The State run telecom operator, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, abbreviated as BSNL is expecting to receive an approval from the government regarding their launch of 5G service in India. The Company is seeking approval for using the airwaves in 700 MHz band in order to improve their 4G services and implement their future plans of launching 5G services.

According to the latest reports, BSNL has already written to the Department of Telecom (DoT) beseeching to allocate a slot in the 700 MHz band for rolling out better 4G services. The Company wants an additional slot in order to offer its users with high speed 5G services in future.

The state run telecom operator is going to join hands with the Chinese gear maker ZTE. Following the recent partnership made by the Finnish firm, Nokia, BSNL is also looking forward to come in an alliance with ZTE for 5G services in India. BSNL might be signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with ZTE under the ‘5G and beyond’ programme. Owing to this collaboration on this matter, ZTE will be helping out by providing recent technological updates and developmental ideas with the Company to gain better connectivity in future.

Chairman Anupam Srivastava has recently said in his statement that, “The alliance with ZTE will be non-commercial with no obligations and based on knowledge sharing on what is happening worldwide.”

Besides, ZTE has announced that the Company is going to double its annual investment in 5G research. The annual investment might directly rise up to 2 billion yuan from 1 billion yuan invested in the previous year.

Nokia has entered into a similar alliance with BSNL back in the month of March. The subject of the collaboration was mainly to provide a better global experience in the future 5G industries. The initiative is also focusing on software defined network (SDN) and multi edge computing improvements.
