BSNL has just managed to give a tough competition and start another war for existence among the telecom operators by announcing the launch of Next Generation Optical Transport network.
This change will increase the network’s capacity from 10G to 100G. This will enable the company to provide a download speed of 1,000 Mbps via a broadband connection.
Currently, BSNL provides its users with a top download speed of 100 megabits per second on its fibre-to-the-home network.
BSNL Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava stated,”This project aimed to enhance existing 10G capacity to 100G capacity of Optical Fibre infrastructure of BSNL. This means now in backend we will have 10 times more capacity and will be launching new plans with 10 times more speed. This enhanced capacity will help retail customer base of BSNL in landline, FTTH, and mobile services.”
This could be a major move in favor of company’s success as according to the reports, Reliance Jio is going to launch their Jio Fiber broadband services, having 1000 Mbps speed, with a cap of 100 GB per month cap and Airtel had also launched their 100 Mbps broadband last year.
With BSNL offering 10 times more speed than any of these companies, the company will definitely gain support from the users.
The total expenditure on the project costing the company 330 crores.
