According to latest reports, there has been a massive malware attack in Karnataka attacking almost 60,000 BSNL modems. This huge number of devices has become dysfunctional after the malware attack has hit the Karnataka telecom circle since last Wednesday night.

Based on the statement of the chief general manager of BSNL responsible for the Karnataka Telecom Circle, R. Mani, the modems which had come through the wide area network and had been supplied by three particular vendors have unfortunately become the victims to the malware attack.

However, the telecom operator has confirmed that this malware attack has in no way harmed the BSNL network. The affected modems need to go through a system of procedures which will rectify and reboot the device. BSNL has also said that they will be taking care of this by visiting the subscribers and discussing the ways to get their system rectified.

Procedures to reset the modem

BSNL subscribers can reset their affected modems by following these simple steps as well.

  1. Open modem page ( http://192.168.1.1)
  2. Enter modem user / password.
  3. Click on the access management tab available.
  4. Click on Activate acl radio tab
  5. Save
  6. Reboot the device.
